Door Lock, Removing and Installing
Caution
There is a risk of malfunctions.
The door lock must be removed and installed together with the bracket to prevent over-bending the cable when disengaging and engaging it.
The cable must be disconnected from/attached to the lever on the door lock outside of the door.
Removing
- Remove the lock cylinder guide. Refer to → Chapter "Lock Cylinder Guide, Removing and Installing".
- Disconnect the connector -2- from the door lock -1-.
Note
Ignore the -arrows-.
- Remove the door handle. Refer to → Chapter "Door Handle, Removing and Installing".
- If equipped disengage the exterior door handle touch sensor wire from the bracket -arrow-.
- Free up the electric wire spiral clip -1- using the Pry Lever -80 - 200-.
Note
Use a soapy solution if necessary make removal easier.
- Remove the bolt -3- and the mounting bracket -2-.
- Push the bracket and door lock downward and remove them from the vehicle.
- Disengage the operating cable from the operating lever on the door lock.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- The bracket and the door lock are still removed.
- Engage the operating cable -3- in the door lock operating lever -2-.
- Insert the operating cable in the cable bracket -1- and rotate the lever -4- 90º -arrow-.
- The lever must engage audibly with the locking tab on the cable bracket.
- Install the door handle. Refer to → Chapter "Door Handle, Removing and Installing".
- Install the lock cylinder guide. Refer to → Chapter "Lock Cylinder Guide, Removing and Installing".

Caution

Removing
- Remove the bracket and the door lock. Refer to → Chapter "Door Lock, Removing and Installing".
- Turn the operating cable on the lever -1- 90º in the -direction of arrow A- and remove it from the cable bracket -2-.
- Rotate the cable on the door lock release lever -3- in the direction of -arrow B-.
- The cable must be aligned with the opening on the release lever.
- Disengage the operating cable -1- on the operating lever by pressing the cable bracket -3- out of the mount on the mounting bracket -2--arrow-.
- Remove the operating shaft.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Engage the operating cable -3- in the door lock operating lever -2-.
- Insert the operating cable in the cable bracket -1- and rotate the lever -4- 90º -arrow-.
- The lever must engage audibly with the locking tab on the cable bracket.
- Install the bracket and door lock.
Lock Cylinder Guide, Removing and Installing
Removing
- Move the door window into the "closed" position.
- Remove the lock cylinder. Refer to → Chapter "Lock Cylinder, Removing and Installing".
- Remove the door trim panel. Refer to → Body Interior; Rep. Gr.70; Front Door Panels; Front Door Panel, Removing and Installing.
- Remove the door inner cover. Refer to → Chapter "Door Inner Cover, Removing and Installing".
- Remove the bolts -1, 2, and 3-.
- Remove the guide -4- to do this push the door lock -5- slightly downward.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Install the door inner cover. Refer to → Chapter "Door Inner Cover, Removing and Installing".
- Install the lock cylinder. Refer to → Chapter "Lock Cylinder, Removing and Installing".
Door Opener Cable, Removing and Installing
Removing
- Remove the lock cylinder guide. Refer to → Chapter "Lock Cylinder Guide, Removing and Installing".
- Push the door lock to the side and if necessary disconnect the connector.
- Disengage the actuating link -3- at the door lock cable bracket -2--arrow A-.
- Turn the nipple -1- 90º in the -direction of arrow B- and remove it from the door opener release lever -4-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Insert the nipple -2- in the door opener release lever -3--bottom arrow-.
- Rotate the nipple 90º -top arrow- and press the operating cable into the cable bracket on the door lock -1- until it engages audibly.
- Install the lock cylinder guide. Refer to → Chapter "Lock Cylinder Guide, Removing and Installing".
Catch, Removing and Installing
Removing
- Remove the bolts -2- and the catch -1-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Adjust the catch. Refer to → Chapter "Catch, Adjusting".
