7 - Bracket

  • For Air Conditioning (A/C) unit

8 - Foam Spacer

  • For the refrigerant lines
  • For sealing/insulating

9 - Screw

  • 1.5 Nm

10 - Evaporator housing

  • Removing and installing. Refer to → Chapter "Air Distribution Housing, Removing and Installing".

11 - Air Guide Channel to Right Footwell Vent

12 - Screw

  • 1.5 Nm

13 - Screw

2 - Wire

4 - Cover

  • for the heater core

5 - Hose Clamp

6 - Screw

  • 2 Nm

7 - O-Ring Seal

  • Replacing

8 - Coolant Pipe for the Heater Core

  • Coolant supply from engine

9 - Coolant Pipe for the Heater Core

  • Coolant return to engine

10 - Adapter for Coolant Hoses

  • for the heater core

11 - Bolt

  • 8 Nm

12 - O-Ring Seal

  • Replacing

15 - Air Distribution Housing

  • On vehicles with a gasoline engine without an Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-, the opening for the auxiliary heater is sealed.
  • A/C unit (heater), removing and installing. Refer to → Chapter "Heater and A/C Unit, Removing and Installing".
  • Overview. Refer to → Chapter "Overview - Heater and A/C Unit Attachments and Air Intake Housing".
  • There are different versions for the manual climate control system (heater without A/C system) and for the automatic climate control system. Refer to the Parts Catalog.

16 - Heater Core

  • Removing and installing. Refer to → Chapter "Heater Core, Removing and Installing".

17 - Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-

  • Only installed on vehicles with a TDI engine at this time
  • Checking. Refer to → Chapter "Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-, Checking".
  • Removing and installing. Refer to → Chapter "Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-, Removing and Installing".

18 - Screw

  • 2 Nm

1 - Cover

2 - Fresh Air Blower Series Resistor with Fuse -N24-

  • Only manual climate control system (heater without A/C system)
  • Removing and installing. Refer to → Chapter "Fresh Air Blower Series Resistor with Fuse -N24-, Removing and Installing".

3 - Bolt

  • Quantity: 2
  • 6 Nm

4 - Bracket

  • For A/C unit

5 - Foam Seal

  • Replace if damaged

6 - Air Intake Duct

  • There are different versions. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
  • Do not dismantle
  • Removing and installing. Refer to → Chapter "Heater and A/C Unit Air Intake Housing, Removing and Installing".

7 - Screw

  • 1 Nm

8 - Evaporator Housing

  • Removing and installing. Refer to → Chapter "Air Distribution Housing, Removing and Installing".

9 - Fresh Air Blower Control Module -J126-

  • Only automatic climate control system
  • Removing and installing. Refer to → Chapter "Fresh Air Blower Control Module -J126-, Removing and Installing".

10 - Fresh Air Blower -V2-

  • There are different versions. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
  • For automatic climate control system with Fresh Air Blower Control Module -J126-
  • To check, use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function
  • Removing and installing. Refer to → Chapter "Fresh Air Blower -V2-, Removing and Installing".

  Note

For the sake of clarity, only the mount for the Fresh Air Blower -V2- is shown here. The Fresh Air Blower -V2- is not drawn in.

  Caution

Fan wheel imbalance.

Do not grasp fan wheel of the Fresh Air Blower -V2-, force against the fan wheel or shifting the balancing weights fastened to fan wheel may cause imbalance and then problems during operation.

  • Fresh air mode

2 - Air Intake from the Vehicle Interior

  • Recirculating air mode

3 - To the Right Footwell Vent

4 - To Right Center Instrument Panel Vent

5 - To the Center Instrument Panel Vents

6 - To Left Center Instrument Panel Vent

7 - To the Left Footwell Vent

8 - To the Instrument Panel Air Guide

  • With air guide to the windshield, left and right side window defroster vents and to the left and right instrument panel vents

9 - To the Right Rear Footwell Vent

10 - To the Left Rear Footwell Vent

11 - To the Vent in the Left Rear Center Console

  • Depending on vehicle equipment, sealed on vehicles with a manual climate control system (or with a heater without A/C system)

12 - To the Vent in the Right Rear Center Console

  • Depending on vehicle equipment, sealed on vehicles with a manual climate control system (or with a heater without A/C system)

1 - Evaporator Housing Lower Section

  • There are different versions. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
  • Removing and installing. Refer to → Chapter "Evaporator, Removing and Installing".

2 - Evaporator

  • Removing and installing. Refer to → Chapter "Evaporator, Removing and Installing".

3 - Clamp

4 - Evaporator Housing Upper Section

  • There are different versions. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
  • Removing and installing. Refer to → Chapter "Evaporator, Removing and Installing".

5 - Bolt

  • 1.5 Nm

6 - Grommet

  • With support ring for sealing the hole for the refrigerant lines through the bulkhead partition
  • Removing and installing. Refer to → Chapter "Refrigerant Line Grommet, Removing and Installing".

7 - Retaining Plate

  • To secure the refrigerant line and secure the expansion valve
